Not every sidewalk job starts with a violation. Owners replace sidewalks before selling a home, after a water main or utility repair, when flags have heaved and become a trip hazard, or simply because the concrete has worn out. Fixing a sidewalk before DOT cites it is usually simpler and keeps your liability down.
We replace sidewalks flag by flag or curb to property line. Every job starts with a site visit to check slope, drainage, joints, tree pits and the curb, then a written estimate listing the area being replaced. When a permit is required, our office obtains it.
We excavate the failed concrete, prepare and compact the base, set forms to the right grade and slope, and pour and finish the new concrete with proper control joints so it drains and wears the way a city sidewalk should.

Frequently asked questions
Who is responsible for the sidewalk in front of my house?
In New York City, property owners are generally responsible for maintaining the sidewalk adjacent to their property, which is why violations are issued to owners.
Can you replace just a few flags?
Yes. We often replace only the damaged flags. We will tell you honestly if neighbouring flags are failing too.
When can I walk on the new sidewalk?
Light foot traffic is usually fine within a day or so, depending on weather. We give you specific guidance for your job, since curing depends on temperature and conditions.
