Concrete Driveways, Sidewalks & Slabs

New pours and full replacements: driveways, NYC-spec sidewalks, stoops, patios, retaining walls, and structural slabs. Proper subgrade, correct joints, broom or smooth finish — poured by the same crew every time.

JBS pours residential and commercial concrete across NYC: driveways and aprons, sidewalks to NYC DOT specification, stoops and steps, patios and walkways, retaining walls, and structural slabs with rebar and formwork. Standard driveway work uses a 4,000 PSI mix over a compacted gravel base with control joints placed so slabs don't crack randomly.

What we pour

Flatwork & structures.

Driveways & aprons

Tear-out and repour or new construction. Full-depth 4,000 PSI pour, compacted base, correct joint layout, broom or smooth finish.

Sidewalks

NYC-spec flags with dowels at joints and ADA curb ramps. Tree-root damage handled per Parks rules. Have a DOT violation? →

Stoops & steps

Rowhouse stoops, entry slabs, and steps — formed, poured, and finished to match the house.

Retaining walls

Poured, block, and stone walls engineered for sloped lots: proper footings, drainage stone, weep holes.

Slabs & superstructure

Cast-in-place walls, structural slabs, leveling, rebar and formwork — residential and B2B for general contractors.

Patios & walkways

Backyard patios and paths with finishes from standard broom to exposed aggregate.

Standards

Why JBS slabs last.

  1. Excavate & compact. Old slab out (into our own container), subgrade excavated to depth and mechanically compacted with a gravel base.
  2. Form & reinforce. Straight forms, correct slopes for drainage, wire mesh or rebar where the load calls for it.
  3. Pour full depth. 4,000 PSI air-entrained mix — not a thin cap over the old slab.
  4. Joint correctly. Control joints tooled or saw-cut on proper spacing; expansion joints at structures.
  5. Finish & cure. Broom or smooth finish, edges tooled, curing protected — because strength is built in the first week.
Decorative concrete

Stamped, colored & exposed aggregate.

The same 4,000 PSI pour can carry a finish: stamped concrete driveways and patios in stone and slate patterns, exposed aggregate, colored and stained concrete, and broom or trowel finishes approved from a sample before we pour. Beyond driveways, the crew handles concrete patios, walkways, front steps, garage slabs, and concrete repair and leveling where full replacement isn't needed yet — the whole scope people search under "concrete contractor" or "cement contractor," done by one crew.

FAQ

Concrete questions

How long before I can use a new concrete driveway?

You can walk on it after 24–48 hours, park a car after about 7 days, and the slab reaches its rated strength at 28 days. We schedule the pour so the cure window works around your household.

What makes a driveway crack, and how do you prevent it?

Most cracking comes from a bad subgrade or missing joints, not the concrete itself. We excavate and compact a proper gravel base, pour a 4,000 PSI air-entrained mix at full depth, and saw or tool control joints on a correct spacing so any movement happens at the joint, not across the slab.

Can you pour concrete in winter?

Yes, within limits. Cold-weather pours use heated mix, accelerators, and insulated blankets. Below certain temperatures we will tell you honestly that waiting produces a better slab — a driveway is a 30-year asset and we treat it that way.

Do you build retaining walls?

Yes — poured concrete, block, and stone retaining walls, engineered for sloped lots with proper footing depth, drainage stone, weep holes, and backfill. Sloped-lot walls in the Bronx and Staten Island are regular JBS work.

Do you do small jobs like a stoop or a few sidewalk flags?

Yes. Stoops, aprons, patios, walkway sections, and partial sidewalk replacements are everyday work for our concrete crew, often bundled with a container for the debris.
