Concrete Sidewalks

New sidewalks and full replacements poured to NYC DOT spec — correct thickness, joints, slope and finish, with the permit pulled by our office.

A NYC sidewalk isn't a generic slab — DOT specifies the concrete mix, thickness, expansion joints, flag layout, slope and finish. Pour it wrong and it fails inspection, cracks early, or earns the next violation.

JBS pours new sidewalks and replaces old ones across Queens, Brooklyn and the rest of the city. Because we hold a sidewalk license, the permit, the pour and the inspection are all one contractor's problem — ours.

Typical jobs: full frontage replacements, partial flag replacement, sidewalks for new construction, and repairs around tree pits and utility cuts.

What's included

  • DOT permit pulled and posted
  • Demolition and removal of old flags
  • Proper subgrade preparation and compaction
  • NYC DOT spec pour — mix, thickness, expansion joints, scoring
  • Tree pit framing and ADA-conscious slopes where required
  • Broom finish and curing, site left clean

Frequently asked questions

How long before I can walk on a new sidewalk?

Foot traffic is typically fine after about 24–48 hours depending on weather; we mark the job and tell you exactly when it's ready.

Do you replace just the broken flags or the whole sidewalk?

Either. If only some flags are defective, we saw-cut and replace those. If the whole run is at the end of its life, a full replacement often prices better per flag.

Who is responsible for the sidewalk — me or the city?

In NYC, the adjacent property owner is responsible for sidewalk maintenance in most cases. That's why DOT violations are issued to owners.
